St. Bartholomew on the Tiber Island was built in the Thousand year, to contain the relics of St. Bartholomew the Apostle. The Holy Roman Emperor Otto III built this Basilica dedicated it to his friend, St. Adalbert of Prague, but at the arrival of the relics, the Basilica has changed dedication. The relics were placed in a tank under the main altar. Entrusted in 1993 to the Community of St. Egidio, the Basilica still houses inside the memories and relics of many witnesses of our time.
