Via Veneto

Where Via Vittorio Veneto, 100, Roma

Via Veneto, in memory of the Battle of Vittorio Veneto, is the way of the historic center of Rome that leads from Barberini Square to Porta Pincianai. Designed at the end of the nineteenth century, it was the center of social life of the 50's 60's, thanks to the many cafes and hotels frequented by international celebrities and photographers ("paparazzi"). Its reputation was finally sanctioned by Federico Fellini's film "The sweet life". The oldest monuments are in the initial part of the Street, near Barberini Square: Fountain of the Bees, Church of St. Mary Immaculate (with the famous Capuchin Crypt). Halfway in the Margherita Palace, there is the USA Embassy; then again, Piacentini Palace, headquarters of the Ministry of Economic Development and Marco Biagi palace, headquarters of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. Other historical and artistic monuments accessible from this Via are: Coppedé Palace, the Palaces of the Hotel Majestic, Balestra, Excelsior, Flora, Palace, and the Fountain of the Dog.
