Piazza Barberini

Where Piazza Barberini, 11, Roma

It takes its name from Barberini Palace that overlooks. At the center of the Square stands the Triton Fountain, created by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in 1643, commissioned by Pope Urban VIII Barberini. From this Square, starting from the Fountain, until the eighteenth century was leaving the cart in the procession that carried the disfigured bodies found, to put them on display in the busiest spots in the city, so that they could recognize the identity. At the corner with Via Veneto is the Fountain of the Bees, the animal symbol of the Barberini family. The Square is also famous because from here branches off Via Veneto, made famous in Fellini's film "La Dolce Vita".
