MUSEO DI STORIA DELLA MEDICINA

The Museum of the History of Medicine, founded in 1938 by Adalberto Pazzini, has a rich collection of objects of historical and doctor, many of them original, which allow us to reconstruct the evolution of medical knowledge from prehistoric times until the genomic medicine. The museum, designed for educational and informative, it features video media and interactive multimedia that allow you to explore the main themes of the history of medicine, biomedicine and the relationship between the biomedical sciences and society, integrating, both for primary and secondary schools that at the university level, the teaching of the history of medicine and bioethics. The museum is divided into three floors. The basement accommodates reconstructions of environment: the apothecary and alchemist's shop. The first floor offers a journey from prehistoric times to the seventeenth century, through the illustration of medicine of the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean basin and the Middle Ages. The second plan describes the transition from experimental medicine at the recent challenges of biomedicine, genomic medicine and its technological applications.
