Museo Carlo Bilotti

Where viale Fiorello la Guardia, 6, Roma

The Carlo Bilotti Museum is a Contemporary Art Museum, located in the Villa Borghese's Orangery. The Museum displays paintings, sculptures and watercolors of the collection donated by the entrepreneur Carlo Bilotti: works by Giorgio De Chirico, paintings by Gino Severini, Andy Warhol and Larry Rivers and a sculpture by Giacomo Manzù. The Villa Borghese's Orangery has undergone several changes over the centuries, up to its present. In 1849 the building was destroyed during the defense of the Roman Republic, then rebuilt in modified forms and without decorations, to house the citrus plants during the winter. Only in the 80's it was restored in order to create a Museum. The most consistent core of the collection consists of 18 works by Giorgio De Chirico, including "Hector and Andromache", located outside.
