Casa-Museo "Fondazione De Chirico"

Where piazza di Spagna, 31, Roma

The House-Museum of Giorgio De Chirico is located in the seventeenth-century Burgundians Palace, in Spanish Square. Here the Artist has spent the last thirty years of his life, after arriving there in 1948. The House, which opened as a museum in 1998, on the anniversary of his death, is a unique opportunity to approach the private Artist's world. Environments and furnishings have been restored in line with the original 50s flavor: the main floor has large seventeenth-century salons, a true "living gallery", rich in works, some precious fabrics and silvers. Everything is arranged according to a process that, starting with the selection of '40s and' 50s works, through the corpus of "Silent Lives" (dining room), to the artistic production of the last ten years (the so-called "Neometafisic Period "), involves the visitors into the Master's immaginary. The second floor houses the most intimate area of the house. The building also includes a Library, available on request.
