The Viminale Palace rises on the namesake Hill and is home, since 1925, of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Interior. Wanted by Giolitti as the center of executive power, it was built in 1911 by Manfredo Manfredi specially to house government offices. It is built on five floors, with hundreds of rooms connected by a series of routes cross. Noteworthy are the imposing entrance with three arches of the Presidential Palace, the grand staircase of the Palace of the Offices, the Hall of the Council of Ministers and the entrance hall on the main floor decorated with precious wood, marble and stucco. The gardens and terraces are raised, those on the back of the plexus divide the main appliances, including the building that was the headquarters of the Royal Institute of Physics, in which Enrico Fermi conducted his experiments. The main building houses several libraries.
