Stazione Tiburtina

Where Piazzale della Stazione Tiburtina, 495, Roma

Tiburtina Station, originally "Portonaccio", was inaugurated at the end of the nineteenth century. In the Thirties, it was expanded with the construction of a new passenger building, which was severely damaged during the Second World War and rebuilt in a simplified form. The new Tiburtina Station, the main hub for high speed on the north-south, was inaugurated in 2011 and dedicated to Cavour. Designed by the Roman "ABDR Associates Architects", the new Station consists of a tunnel-bridge covered in crystal and supported by steel uprights. The tunnel-bridge has as its starting point two atria, one on the side of the Nomentano district and one on the side of Pietralata district.
