Museo Agrumario (o del Bergamotto di Reggio Calabria)
The Citrus Museum (or Museum of Calabrian Bergamot) is located, waiting to transfer its headquarters in Melito di Porto Salvo (RC), in the Experimental Station for the Industries of Essences and Derivatives from Citrus (SSEA), single authority responsible for certifying the Protected Designation of Origin "Bergamot of Reggio Calabria - essential oil". The Museum houses several machines used for the extraction of juice and citrus essences, including the famous "Gangeri" Bergamot Machine, derived from the model invented in 1840 by Nicola Barilla. Inside the Museum is also a collection of photographs illustrating the growing, harvesting and processing of jasmine and the opium poppy.
