An extraordinary archaeological complex, among the most important Italian sites discovered in recent decades, which underlines once more the greatness of Ravenna. Between 1993 and 1994, the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Emilia-Romagna has brought to light a complex of buildings that included testimonies of the Republican era, a domus of the Augustan age, a domus of Hadrian, a spa facility, a building Late Antiquity (IV-VI cent.) characterized by a mosaic emblem depicting the Good Shepherd, a Byzantine palace. The latter corresponds to the palatial home of a person of the rank of the court of Ravenna, consisting of 14 rooms and 2 courtyards, in use between the late fifth and early seventh century. and enriched with fine mosaics. Among them stands out for its size and the quality of execution, that of the 10-room, a large room of about 100 square meters in the center of the emblem of the Dance of the Genes of Stagioni.Il archaeological complex has been prepared for the visit with a musealization locally: underground environment mosaics and marble floors of the building have been relocated after the Byzantine restoration. At the exhibition space is accessed via the small church of St. Euphemia, located on a former place of worship is considered the most ancient of Ravenna and the Emilia.
