Fabbrica di San Domenico
Fabbrica di San Domenico is located in former convent of San Domenico, whose construction (1638-1774) began to work by Mons. Giacinto Petronio, Dominican friar Bishop of Molfetta. Since suppression of religious orders the building enters the availability of municipality and is used for other purposes, up to present of being cultural destination. On the first floor, along with Municipal Library "G. Panunzio", are Children Library and Philatelic Section. The same building also houses several museum sections managed by Molfetta Archeoclub: Fabbrica di San Domenico Museum (with thematic sections "Sea", "Territory", "Art and Faith" and works from Middle Ages to the twentieth century); in former ice house is placed ethnographic exhibition "De li mastri lavoranti vascelli nei cantieri di Molfetta", which tells manual work through exhibition of drawings, models and tools; at the ground floor, Conference Room "Beniamino Finocchiaro", Gipsoteca "Giulio Cozzoli", Municipal Historical Archives and Multimedia Educational Laboratory with Internet Point.
Building is open from Monday to Friday during opening hours of Library, 10:00/12:00.
Museum sections managed by Molfetta Archeoclub can be visited at intermediate times to be agreed by telephone appointment (even in the same day), with guided tours for groups of six people.
