Museo Poldi Pezzoli
The Art Foundation "Poldi Pezzoli" was born simultaneously with the House-Museum, in 1881, in order to house about 6.000 objects between painting and decorative arts from the private collection of Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli (Milan 1822-1879) and his predecessors. The collection is unique and valuable of its kind, featuring works by artists such as Botticelli, Piero della Francesca, Pollaiuolo, Perugino, Michelangelo, Mantegna, Lippi and Pinturicchio. The same halls of the Palace, Baroque and Renaissance, were conceived from the beginning to house and exhibit works of art of the family (furniture, paintings, statues, weapons, tapestries, ceramics, jewelery, etc.), so their construction was entrusted to designers (Filippo Peroni), painters, sculptors and cabinetmakers (Bertini, Speluzzi and Scrosati).
