Forte Cavalli e Museo Storico delle Fortificazioni dello Stretto (Batteria Monte Gallo)

Forte Cavalli, also called Monte Gallo Battery, is a Umbertina opera located south east of Messina. The structure, in good condition, features a classic trapezoidal plant and a drawbridge. Among the few fortifications to defend the port to have eight pitches for obic and two lateral semicircular platforms for cannons, Forte Cavalli was used as a shelter for pigs and goats, but for several years is an example to follow for all the other fortified structures of the city: seat of Stretto Fortifications Historical Museum, is visited and often hosts cultural and recreational events.
