Villa Mazzini

Where Via Concezione, 9, Messina

Villa is located on the site of an ancient Roman necropolis. It looks like a garden in "Italian style", with flower beds bordered by paths and wide open spaces for children to play and walks. Originally called "La Flora", it was named Giuseppe Mazzini after his death and hosts, along the avenue his bust, work by Lio Gangeri. At the heart of the Villa is placed a small musical stage, above a large bathtub covered with an artificial cave with water and aquatic plants. Villa houses also the largest Aquarium of Talassografic Institute, opened in 1955, which displays marine specimens from Mediterranean and exotic seas.
