Located in a prominent position on Caperrina hill, it was the first Church rebuilt after the earthquake of 1908. Sanctuary is linked to the tradition of the apparition of the Madonna in defense of Messina besieged by the French in the War of the Vespers. The facade facing the sea was rebuilt in 1930 with two towers on the cusp to the sides.
