Museo Etnografico dell'Etna

Where PIAZZA ANNUNZIATA, 8, Linguaglossa (Catania)

The Museum is a true collection center of natural and artifacts exhibits that keep alive the natural and handmade memory of the past. In its eight rooms are preserved specimens of flora (including a mycological collection) and fauna (stuffed specimens, some endangered, and a collection of typical local butterflies) of the Etna territory, as well as minerals finds representative of the particular type of volcano (lava Prehistoric exhibits and more recent, like "volcanic bombs"). Some windows reconstruct, however, the daily life of the people through lava stone artefacts and numerous tools for processing grapes. The adjoining Library contains about 960 volumes relative to activities of the Institute.
