Considered one of the most original romantic parks of the world, the park of Villa Durazzo Pallavicini in Pegli, wanted by the Marquis Ignazio Pallavicini, was designed and created in 1840 by Michele Canzio, designer of the Teatro Carlo Felice. The works lasted for six years, and produced a park in the Romantic style and an original theater itinerary, composed of scenes linked one to another by a narrative track: the Viale Classico, the Coffee House, the Arc de Triomphe, the House Hermit, the Caves, the Great Lake with the Chinese Pagoda, the Temple of Diana, the Roman Bridge, the Gardens of Flora, the Gazebo of the Roses, all in a picturesque landscape, meticulously composed in its architectural elements and plant and ordered according to a precise path from content philosophical theater. The constant change of scenery, the wise combinations of architectural and natural elements and especially the track engaging narrative that is the basis of the route, still make exciting visit despite the urban aggression surrounding the park. There is no shortage of great value botanical specimens plant-landscape: the monumental camphor to the cedar of Lebanon places in the margin of the lake, the collection of exotic palms, the araucaria and cork trees, the Banksia Rose and Cherry laurel, but in particular stands out of all, the collection of ancient camellias, some hundred years old, that every spring is a real attraction with its particular bloom.
