Centro storico
Famous for production of its ceramics under the name of "Civil Art City", Deruta is one of the "Most beautiful villages in Italy". Behind ancient walls lies the oldest village, from where, going for three doors of defensive system, you enter old town. The main entrance gate is called Porta Sant'Angelo, the other are called Porta Perugina and Porta del Borgo or Tuderte. From old town stand out the two civic towers and bell tower of St. Francis's Church. Impossible to leave village without being immersed in vibrant colors of its ceramics and flavors of traditional cuisine, with a nice dish of passatelli.
