Cavallino-Treporti
The territory consists of Litorale del Cavallino, which separates Venetian Lagoon from Adriatic Sea. The peninsula on which the inhabited area is crossed by three navigable canals. History and the name of Cavallino arelinked to the breeding of horses by ancient Venetian peoples. The territory flourished in Roman times and especially in the early Middle Ages. The most important event is Palio Remiero, in which the 12 Contrade di Cavallino-Treporti participate, each year challenging each other in the tradition of rowing, preceded by Corteo Acqueo and accompanied by the challenges between "Champions on Gondolas" and "Giovani on mascherete". Cavallino-Treporti is the second sea-tourist place in Italy, characterized by a long beach of fine sand that includes about 30 villages-campsites of medium-high level.
