Ampollino Lake is an artificial lake located in Sila. The beginning of the barracks construction began in 1916 and ended in 1927. At its inauguration, King Vittorio Emanuele III took part. This lake has a peculiar characteristic, in fact it has three different provinces, Cosenza, Crotone and Catanzaro. It was the first artificial invasion to be made in Sila. On the banks of the lake, subject to periodic flooding, major archaeological remains attributable to mining and metallurgy have been identified during the aforesaid research.
