MUSEO GEOLOGICO DELLA CARNIA
Carnia is one of the few areas in Europe where the geological and paleontological heritage has been preserved with completeness, recording the different stages of evolution that took place in the Carnic Alps for a period of 400 million years. The Museum, modern and educational, has headquartered in Angelo Unfer Palace and collects rocks and fossils of great scientific interest, illustrated by an extensive series of explanatory panels that allow visitors to retrace the history of the area going from the sea to the Silurian to the Devonian reefs, from tropical forests of the Carboniferous to the Triassic seas, until reaching the Alpine orogenesis. The Museum also houses sections devoted to children and a library specializing in issues of geology and museology.
