Marche town in province of Macerata, Visso is one of "The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy" and is home of Sibillini National Park. Of ancient origins, because of its strategic location, village is known as "Pearl of Sibillini", nestled in the green of surrounding nature, from which stands out for its particular construction system, consisting of palaces, balconies and Medieval towers. Visso was fortified by means of walls still visible, crossed by old entrance gates. In modern times, a series of earthquakes and epidemics forced the inhabitants to move further downstream, resulting in the division of inhabited nucleus in different "guaite" (districts) headed by a Prior. It is still important to textile crafts.
