Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore
Built for Prince-Bishop Bernardo Clesio, Church hosted the third session of Council of Trent and was built by Antonio Medaglia. In Roman times the area where now stands present Church housed public buildings, perhaps a thermal complex. Renaissance Church, begun in 1520, is built in white and red stone. The main facade has archivolted entrance in Renaissance style where it open the portal surmounted by a lunette depicting Annunciation. The interior is a single room, with a series of chapels which house marble altars in Baroque style. Significant paintings that can be seen on the ceiling, depicting moments of Council and the main protagonists of Counter. The choir occupies the northern part of the presbytery, and consists of a large grandstand with bas-reliefs supported by four corbels finely worked. The bell tower, with its 53 meters, is the tallest in the city, built in white limestone with two sets of Romanesque three-light and a polygonal dome.
