On the second floor of the College of St. Joseph, at the premises of the Museum of Natural Sciences Fianchetti-Hummingbird houses a magnificent collection of birds fly or hummingbird, real beauties of nature, which combine the well-known smallness of the amazing beauty of plumage. This collection, the result of thirty years of assiduous research Cav. Can. Prof. Franchetti, is one of the most important collections in the world of hummingbirds, second only to that of Rio de Janeiro, first in Italian as important. Of the approximately 334 known species in the New World, more than 226 are represented, with over a thousand pieces. For each species, are almost always represented the two sexes; for some individuals even in juvenile plumage, or in rare forms of hybridity.
