The St. George's Portal of is the symbol of the city of Ragusa, built in Catalan Gothic style in the second half of the fourteenth century. The ancient St. George's Church in Ragusa, who had the full attention of Count Geoffrey, was destroyed by the terrible earthquake of 1693. Only the Portal was saved, becoming one of the most important symbols of the city, winner of the award "Silver Portal". Built with blocks of soft limestone, with its pink color, it has a bezel lintel representing the Holy Knight while piercing the dragon, with the queen of Berito kneeling at the scene. The arc is contained between two fluted pilasters and lozenges, which houses the eagle of Ragusa. The interstices between the pillars of the arch are decorated with figures representing the arts and crafts; along the surface, a theory of monstrous figures and imaginary is the ancient Medieval bestiary.
