Palazzo Battaglia

Where Largo Camerina, 7, Ragusa

The building is among the palaces of Ragusa recognized as "World Heritage" by UNESCO. Destroyed by the 1693 earthquake, it was rebuilt in 1724 at the initiative of Baron Grandonio Battaglia di Torrevecchia. The structure, rectangular in plant, is a project by Rosario Gagliardi. On the ground floor opens the imposing main entrance, flanked by two windows, while the main floor there are three balconies: the central one is dominated by the great heraldic shield with coats of arms of Battle and Giampiccolo families. The front side features a large balcony in the stands with a particular ledges window and a central oval.
