Galleria Regionale

Where Via Alloro, 4, Palermo

The Gallery is located in the historic center of the city, in the old building of the fifteenth century, in the Catalan Gothic style, the former residence of Francesco Abatellis, master Portulano of the Kingdom. The structure was heavily damaged over the centuries and was restored several times, until the exhibition designed by Carlo Scarpa in 1953. The exhibits document the figurative culture of western Sicily from the twelfth to the seventeenth century and are the result of donations and acquisitions, including that more significant from the National Museum of Palermo (now Regional Archaeological Museum) whose interdisciplinary physiognomy was thought by Antonino Salinas. The vast collection includes masterpieces by Antonello da Messina, Gagini, Laurana, Novelli.
