Orto Botanico Pietro Castelli

The Botanical Garden of Messina is now a small arboretum in the center of town. The wealth of species that now owns the Botanical Garden "Peter Castelli" includes many native and exotic plants, especially tropical and subtropical. Many of them were introduced from the foundation, others at later dates. For over a decade, the Botanical Garden deals with biodiversity conservation, reproducing and cultivating native species at risk of extinction. Its assets increased continuously: there are rich collections of succulent plants, Cycadaceae, carnivorous plants and aromatic.
