Castelplanio is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Ancona in the Italian region Marche, located about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southwest of Ancona. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,303 and an area of 15.1 square kilometres (5.8 sq mi).
The municipality of Castelplanio contains the frazioni (subdivisions) Macine, Pozzetto, Borgo Loreto and Piagge.
Castelplanio borders the following municipalities: Belvedere Ostrense, Maiolati Spontini, Poggio San Marcello, Rosora.
Its patron saint is Saint Joseph.
