Misurina Lake is the largest natural lake of Cadore. Near the lake there are about ten hotels. Most winters the lake freezes completely, thus becoming feasible in all its extension for horse polo matches. There are two legends about Misurina Lake: the first, made famous by a song by Claudio Baglioni, it wants Misurina was the only King Sorapiss's daughter, who ruled the lands between Three Lavaredo Peaks; in the second version, Misurina is the daughter of wealthy Venetian merchants, in the mountains brought to avert the fulfillment of a prophecy reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet's death.
