Original palace, owned by Gagliardi family, was designed by Giovan Battista Vinci, in the late eighteenth century, at the area occupied by Church of Saints Mark and Luke. It was small but kept valuable paintings and in 1860 sojourned Giuseppe Garibaldi (as noted in the facade slab). The building was demolished in the nineteenth century and entered the availability of Municipality with a donation ndel 1953. Palace was home to Archaeological Museum until 1995 and today is home to major cultural events, first of all Tropea Festival Reading & Writing.
