Museo Diocesano di Arte Sacra

The Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art was established in 1984 by the will of the time, Antonio Cantisani, and is headquartered in the sixteenth century Bishop's Palace. The collection, which occupies six rooms, exhibits important historical and artistic treasures, dating from the fourteenth to the nineteenth century: monstrance, chalices, candlesticks, vestments, paintings, wooden sculptures and marble works. Most of the exhibits come from the Treasure of the Norman Cathedral, destroyed by the earthquake of 1783; but there are also valuable testimonies received from other diocesan religious buildings.
