Val Venosta, Sluderno (Bolzano/Bozen)
From Reschenpass, where born Adige river, arrives at the gates of Merano, forming the westernmost corner of the province of Bolzano. According to a legend, Monte Sole was once covered with vast forests of oak, which would be cut to provide timber needed to build Venice. Today, the valley is characterized by very extensive apple orchards, one of typical products and important pillar of agricultural economy. The other engine development is tourism, both summer and winter. The main town of the district is Silandro. The other centers are Curon Venosta, Tubre, Mals, Glorenza, Sluderno, Prato allo Stelvio, Stelvio, Lasa, Martell, Laces, Senales, Kastelbell.
