The collection was created with the teaching of veterinary medicine in the Grand Duchy in the first half of the nineteenth century, and is composed by the collection of the preparations made for educational purposes on the domestic animals, mostly on the horseback, for the visualization of animal anatomy. Initially, it was within the Hospital of Santa Clara, but in the sixties of the twentieth century the museum was opened in its present location of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
