Ponte del Mare
The Sea Bridge, with a length of 466 meters and a suspension of 172 m, is the largest cycle-pedestrian bridge in Italy and among the largest in Europe. Linking the south with the north coast of the Pescara river, it providing continuity to the "Green Adriatic Corridor", the bike path that runs along the Adriatic coast from Ravenna to Santa Maria di Leuca. The Bridge was inaugurated and opened to the public in 2009. Its architecture is composed of a central pier, leaning slightly, the top of which are anchored a series of diagonal stays that support and balance the two separate branches of the Bridge, which at the ends gradually converge towards a single location.
