Museo civico Castello Ursino

The Municipal Museum, housed in the historic heart of the city within the Ursino Castle, an important goal of the study of archaeologists, historians and restorers, is the most important museum of Catania to the vastness and variety of the collection. From the tablets of the fifteenth century Byzantine oils on canvas of the nineteenth century, the museum boasts an impressive art gallery, to which are added numerous archaeological finds of the Hellenistic and Roman, Greek vases, Greek and Roman coins, the portals of the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries, engravings , prints, tapestries and decorative art objects from different eras. Currently it is available the courtyard, ground floor, first floor and only a part of the collection, which includes, however, remains of great value.
