The Roman Theatre of Lecce is a Roman monument located in the historic center of the city. Of uncertain date, the Theater is assigned to the Augustan period, was accidentally discovered in 1929, during some works carried out in the gardens of two buildings of the city. It's supposed that the Theater was able to accommodate an audience of over 5.000 spectators, for which were represented tragedies and comedies.
