Via de' Tornabuoni
Via de' Tornabuoni is a luxurious street of the historic center of Florence, among the most elegant since the Renaissance, today is characterized by the presence of the best designer boutiques of high fashion and jewelry. In ancient times there passed the Roman walls. In the fourteenth century, the Street was already equipped with buildings larger then systems architecture of the houses-towers: Spini-Feroni Palace, Gianfigliazzi Tower and the Cambi-Del Nero Palace. In the fifteenth century there was the construction of Antinori Palace, Tornabuoni Palace (by Michelozzo, which gives its name to the Street) and with the enormous Strozzi Palace to consolidate the noble and representation role of place. Its heyday began in the Grand Ducal era, when there were passing parades of carriages from Pitti Palace to the Santa Trinita Bridge. In 1565, it was erected the porphyry column that still contraddistibgue the perspective view. Still retains a refined atmosphere, but the proliferation of boutique and Florentine maison has contributed to the loss of all the historical exercises: from the prestigious Seeber Library, active since 1865, to the Casoni Caffè, where was invented the original famous Negroni cocktail.
