Palazzo Apostolico
The Apostolic Palace is the official residence of the Pope in Vatican City. Also note the plural, indicating the complex of buildings built between the twelfth and nineteenth century, which include the Papal Apartment, the Office of Government of the Catholic Church (State Secretariat), the House of the Cardinal Secretary of State, Substitute the Archbishop, the Prefecture of the Papal Household, the Office of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff and the Vatican Secret Archives, for a total of over a thousand rooms. The Apostolic Palaces have a total area of 162.000 square meters.
