The building is located in the heart of the old town. Built in 1091, it was the residence of the Vicar, the delegate charged by Montecassino to rule the town. On the ground floor there was the Court, the seat of power of the Vicar, who lived on the upper floor. Originally, the building was also provided with prisons, located in the basement.
