Santa Maria di Leuca is a village in the municipality of Castrignano del Capo, in the province of Lecce. Renowned tourist destination, is the southernmost offshoot of Salento: means over the headland where there are Basilica and Lighthouse, while Marina di Leuca is located lower. Leuca is famous above all for the nineteenth-century villas, built according to different styles, for the most part by Ruggeri and Rossi architects. Towards the end of the nineteenth century there were well for 43 villas, many of which are now disused or appear changed considerably compared to the past. The territory is dotted with very suggestive caves.
