Like the rest of Ponziano Archipelago, the island has a volcanic origin and has a circular shape. At the moment it is uninhabited, but it is possible to visit it through local boats. The only building on the island is a circular prison, with 99 cells, built during Bourbon period (around 1794-95) by Ferdinando IV and in use until 1965.
