Mother Church dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta overlooks Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, the heart of historic center of Polignano a Mare. Inside you can admire some works attributed to the sculptor Stefano da Putignano, active between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and important Polyptych of Madonna with Child and Saints, from the fifteenth century on a gilded table, by Bartolomeo Vivarini. Cappellone di San Vito instead holds the relics of the Saint: a fragment of the arm and the knee.
