Parco Nazionale della Majella
Established in 1991, it is one of three National Parks of Abruzzo between the provinces of L'Aquila, Pescara and Chieti. Its area is clustered around large limestone massif of Majella. Highest peak of Park is Amaro Mount (2793 meters). In the Park we have been counted more than 2.100 plant species which account for roughly one third of the entire Italian flora, some of which identigficate here for the first time by botanists. The animal species are more than 150, among which is typical "dotterel". Inside the Park there are seven state natural reserves and some of the most significant cultural interest of Abruzzo, in addition to five ski resorts placed on different sides of Majella.
