Hotel Italia

Where Via Amerigo Vespucci, 3, Massa (Massa-Carrara)

Italia Hotel is in the hamlet of Marina di Massa, on the waterfront. Is a liberty building of the early twentieth century, originally a villa owned by the Serra family. The intended use has remained constant over time and, in 1987, it was bought by the current owner (Galeotti), who oversaw the restoration brought to light traces of painted decorations in almost any environment. The building opens the style of villa model with tower and terrace towards the sea, with entrance porch below, then taken up in several coastal buildings. The plant is supported by a rectangular tower, which currently is the main entrance, and is high on three floors. From the terrace, a spiral staircase in wrought iron can reach the coverage. Both buildings were completed by a balustrade with spaced columns, with walls painted in pink. The tower presents, last floor, two narrow single lancet arch. On the back is the garden, after which there are two small outbuildings. The interior keeps track of the original: the marble staircase with wrought iron railing, several marble floors, fragments of the original color to the ceiling and the walls, and the glass separating the private apartment of the owner, framed by a fine carving.
