The park was built between 1839 and 1853 by Giuseppe Poggi for the Milanese nobleman Giuseppe Archinto. In 1862 the villa and grounds were sold to Castles Aristide, in 1969 passed the state. The villa has been given as a venue at the International University of Art, the park is a historic garden managed by the Superintendence for Architectural Heritage in Florence.
