Cenacolo del Fuligno

Where Via Faenza, 42, Firenze

The Cenacolo is located in the old convent of the Nuns of Foligno, transformed into a "Conservatory of poor and honest girls" in 1829, after the transfer of the nuns. The fresco  (m. 4,40 x 8) was found in 1845 and attributed to Raphael at first, but now the criticism tends to assign pupils of Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino (1445/50 -1523) on the master drawing, dating the work between 1493-96. It was also suggested that the work to replace a previous fresco of the same subject of Blacks Bicci (1419-1491 approx.) The fresco can 'be considered an important testimony of the Umbrian culture of the Renaissance in Florence. In the refectory are also preserved frescoes by Lorenzo Bicci (1429). The Cenacolo is detached from other areas of the convent.
