Piazza Stesicoro
Located on Via Etnea, it presents a simple rectangular shape. It is bounded on the north by Tezzano Palace and Toscano Palace, east by Benevento Palace and a building of the fifties that houses the Bank of Sicily, to the west by the St. Agatha's Church to the Furnace. Also on the west side is located, about ten meters below street level, a portion of the Roman Amphitheater excavated in the early twentieth century. In the east, however, it is placed the Monument to Vincenzo Bellini, behind which opens Corso Sicilia. Stesicoro Square is one of the busiest of the center for its proximity to the "fera 'o luni" (the Monday Fear), historic city market which is open throughout the week.
