Piazza Duomo
It is the main town Square. On the north side is the Elephants Palace, namely, the Town Hall. On the other side of the Square are placed the Amenano Fountain, very famous for its inhabitants, into which are thrown the coins and beside the Palace of Clerks. At the center of the Square is the one that is the symbol of Catania, or "u Liotru", a lava stone statue depicting an elephant, topped by an obelisk at the center of a marble fountain several times. The Achilliane Thermae, dated to the fourth and fifth centuries, are located approximately 4/5 meters down Duomo Square and are accessible by the Diocesan Museum.
