Chiesa della Badia di Sant'Agata

Via Vittorio Emanuele, 182, Catania
It is one of the main Bbaroque monuments of the city, work by Giovanni Battista Vaccarini. It occupies an entire city block along the adjoining former Convent. The softness of the prospectus is driven by an undulating rhythm that captures the attention on itself. The present building stands on the ruins of the ancient seventeenth century structures dedicated to St. 'Agatha by Erasmus Cicala and collapsed in the earthquake of 1693.
